Crossties

Our crossties are obtained in the process of on-going maintaince of railroads. Crossties are often used for retaining walls, flowerbeds, raised gardens, and driveway boundries. Crossties can be bought either as singles or in a bundle of 16. A standard crosstie is 8 feet long, a "switch tie" is 12 feet long. Used crossties are graded into the following 4 categories :

Relays - good enough to be placed back into a rail road

#1 - "Three sides good", used for high retaining walls

#2 - "Two sides good", used for short retaining walls, flower beds

#3 - "One side good", used for flower beds only

Due to weight and size, most pickups can carry a maximum of one bundle of crossties. For a fee, we can deliver up to two crosstie bundles in our truck, again limited by size.

		#1 Crossties Our highest quality crosstie Three sides good or three sides without any substantial cracks Used for retaining walls where strength and longevity is required

		#2 Crossties Landscape grade crosstie Must have at least two sides without any substantial cracking Used for short retaining walls (under 3 feet) Raised flower beds, borders, raised gardening
